Hit a local bass pond ive fished quite often the past few years. first time fishing it this season, ill definately be hitting it again after what i found. I had heard the crappie were few and far between in this pond, from what i witnessed, they are fairly abundant.
whites are 10-12" largest crappie went 16"
plenty of action today, only fished 2 traps and the jigrod, shoulda pulled the traps in all honesty, they were more of a nuisance than anything.
didnt keep count, let a bunch go, that is what i kept... well, had a few more, but the eagles managed to steal a few away. couldnt have asked for a better day on the ice. Warm, sunny, and plenty of fish. a bonus brown woulda fit into the mix well, but it wasnt meant to be. jigged my first largemouth, one of 4.
If i cant get out again before the ice disappears, today was a good sendoff for the 2014 ice fishing season.
