Do you prefer the flavor of a smallmouth fillet over a largemouth fillet??? Personally I prefer the small mouth, I think the flesh is firmer and less fishy.

I prefer yellow perch.  I've kept 1 small bass in the last 10 years.  Would rather let them swim to catch another day.

Never had bass till this summer and now I can't get enough. I love the grassy fish flavor of large mouth but my boys and wife prefer small mouth. What really gets my mouth watering are brookies and we are soon to be eating them.

I do prefer to have a small mouth on my line.

Never picked up on the grassy flavor you mention before. Will have to check that out next time we eat some. Is this a summer flavor or do you still get that in the winter too?

Never taken a bass through the ice.  I fish the same spot since it is near my home and we take perch, smelt, trout, and pike.

I would bet it is a summer flavor.

Mike
