Great day yesterday on Lk Wpg
« on: Mar 28, 2014, 10:08 AM »
Finally got to fish with my old buddy firefighter for the first time this year ………better late than never  ;D
The early morning breeze was tolerable but the mid-morning gusts chased us into a tent. Anchored the Cube to the snow machine, turned on the heater and flashers and started catching fish……walleyes, saugers, perch and burbots. Had a +30 fish day and went home with some good eats. Not a soul around once my friends AC and Pebbles went home early. It was a great way to end my season and only wished that the season was longer especially when you're still bottoming out a Jiffy and not punching through  ::) Will posts pics later when they become available from FF's camera  @)

Unfortunately his auger did not have an extension on the 41 inch flyte. I had to dig down into the snow so he would have enough flyte. On one hole he did not have enough to punch through. Also going extensionless was VERY hard on the back  :(

Thanks blue for the info. I've got a 12" extention so should be good to go.
As for perch they are more commen up between North of Gimli up past Hecla.

Anywhere north of Gimli on the west shore and Grand Beach area on east shore for perch.

Not as common as it was. They've gone down dramatically 5 years ago I could
Catch Untill I was sore from reeling now there to
Few and far between. I think it may be the bass population winning the battle.

Travis.  The Hnausa area doesn't produce like it used to?  Interesting that perch catches have gone down.

...not to mention a shortage of universal tow bar and hitch for our frabill flip-overs which made me go and make my own. as well as making another extension for our jiffy of 16" in length.
