When does Granby ice get sketchy ?
« on: Mar 24, 2014, 12:37 PM »
Have some fishing days to plan in mid April, anybody have an idea when the ice gets sketchy ? I'm assuming Williams fork is around the same time?

I've been wondering the same thing.  There have been few reports on IS about Granby this year.  I looked last week on some other sites, and got the feeling it is already breaking up.  I was thinking about one last trip before it ends.
There is no such thing as bad weather - only bad clothing.

I was up 3-23 to granby. The ice is doing great. There is 4-5 inches of crust then 8-10 inches packed snow and 12-14 inches of ice. It is getting a liittle softer as the auger does not flake the ice off as well. The auger does just about bottom out. The area off of dike 3 was still solid. 2 of us , 6 keepers 18-22 inches. slow but still a great day fishing
