Coast guard ice breaker
« on: Mar 21, 2014, 09:54 AM »
Just a heads up - heard on the radio this morning that a coast guard ice breaker is leaving from Brockville tommorow morning and breaking up the ice from Brockville to picton harbour.  They warned to get off the ice if you see the ship.

Anyone ever seen this before while ice fishing?  I'm wondering if it's safe to be far away on the ice near shore if the ice breaker is way off in the distance or if there's a danger of thick ice breaking far away due to pressures from the ice breaker  :?:   I will be on the river this weekend and don't want to go swimming
Tight lines

i'm pretty sure they will head up the main channel. the bays on the north shore should by fine for a little while longer, just because of the islands will break up the pressure wave.
be safe out there, and tight lines to all!
