Tried something new today!
« on: Mar 18, 2014, 05:52 PM »
Since this is probably the coldest winter of my life, or atleast the coldest that I was old enough to ice fish, I figured I would finally try a spot that doesn't always get good ice.

My buddy Eric and I hit Keuka Lake today for some lakers. We went out of the State Park about 1 mile. We had good action all morning and headed in around 3. We ended up landing around 25 lakers mostly between 16" - 20". We missed and dumped that many and more.  The ice was about 12" everywhere we went. The weather was awesome!!!

A nice moonlight stroll out to the spot.  ;D

The 10 that we kept.

Keuka
My son and his bud  left the ice at noon and the pressure crack at the launch opened up while they were there. They had to do a little shuffle and get off by the breakwall.

Yes we got on at the State Park. There is a crack right across the launch and I think that is going to get bad quick. We got on and off to the right of the crack. I am sure you could get on in another spot just fine and avoid the crack.

Thanks guys. Jigging for lakers is a lot like jigging for eyes but the lakers were WAY more aggressive and harder to hook.

It was a blast.
