my new rod case
« on: Mar 16, 2014, 09:51 PM »
Well after yesterdays nearly 500 mile round trip and a little more on ice travel than is usual for me. I decided I needed a hard side rod case. I was so worried opening up my current rod locker setup in my hut I was gonna find a broken rod.
After seeing the ice fishing innovations case that fellow ice shanty member Asatmillerbluegill owns I was impressed. But I don't have an extra 100 bones to throw at one. So I came up with this. Its an arrow case made by mcm.

I was on a bus and just happened to be sitting on a news paper. This guy came up and asked. "Are you reading that ?"
I said  yes, stood up, turned the page and sat back down.

I have heard of people using arrow cases before. That looks like a lot better solution than the other arrow cases I have seen. That's a good idea.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

it needs to be a bit deeper for the inline reels as the handles don't fold but it works so far. I want to add something to keep the reels from banging together and I think it will be good. total investment so far 30 bucks.

What are the dimensions for that case.  I found one on Amazon but it seems smaller and is semi translucent, rather than black.  Not that the color really matters, just wondering about the size of yours.

Thanks, I think the one I looked at first was one of the "compact" cases.  Those are not deep enough to comfortably fit a reel.

I just ordered one thru my local sports shop for 33.00 dollars.  I'll have to see when it gets here but how about just a cloth bag to slip over each reel?  Should be enough to prevent scratches.

Before I switched to all palm rods (6 in a pistol case) I used a rifle case.  (About 5 rods)

in all reality this is not the end all for me. I still really want one of the larger cases just have to save my pennies and have a couple other things I want first
