New Fin-Bore III broken blade
« on: Mar 07, 2014, 05:30 PM »
I just purchased a new Fin Bore III from 307. Drove the 40 miles (no time to fish the LG) back home and fished a small pond. It drilled wonderfully and I was very impressed, no down pressure at all and it cut fast... until about the 15th hole and about 15" down the drill stopped progressing, it just spun and didn't cut at all. I pulled it out and there was about a 1" piece missing from the middle of the cutting edge, maybe a 1/16th wide, basically a sliver. I called Normark and they said I have to bring it back to 307 and that they couldn't do anything over the phone. I'll call tomorrow and see what their policy is. I plan on going to LG on Sunday so hopefully I can exchange it. Anyone else have that happen?

No, but it sounds like you will likely be getting new blades courtesy of Normark.

I lost my blade cover ... And beat the blades up like crazy ... And it still cuts better than most ... ... Recently with the melt down we have had I noticed that sometimes I'm cutting through some pretty dirty ice ..  Wind has blown a lot of sand and grit ...  Mines a 6 inch and its gotta be 14 yrs old ... It's time for some new blades but its only gonna be the 2 nd set I'm investing in ..

BTW - I checked my 6" tonight and found that the blades have loosened up a bit and tightened them up.  I haven't tightened them since last season.  Should be good to go tomorrow.

Are the blades marked "made in China?"

FYI the Strikemaster lazer series blades fit on the Fin-Bor III if you need to get out sooner.

Thanks guys, I thought I heard the blades were interchangable... The blades on the auger are the swedish blades too. Just a fluke I guess... I have a Jiffy STX that I can drag out if I go tomorrow. But it's 40+ pounds versus a couple of pounds. I can see the Fin Bore becoming the "go to" auger vs. the Jiffy... I'll post how it goes with 307 and/or Normark.

307 will take care of you. They're good people.

If you need a good blade guard, barrow your wife's Tupper Ware bowl, and a bungee cord works fine.

Mora makes that Auger. And also makes Lazer Auger. The Sweedish  Lazer blades are the same.  The China blades "chomp"
10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish .....im a 10% are you?

I believe Normark owns them along with many other fishing companies.

I got replacement blades 6-7 years back for my Fin-Bore 6".
On the bottom is etched "Mora of Sweden 6" 150mm"

When looking I noticed a lot of wiggle play in the head.
I tried tightening the bolt on the shaft but it was a tight as it could be.
This normal???
