The posts are slowing down...

I just hate it when the posts begin to slow down... It means two things.

1) Spring is around the corner and the ice will be gone, and

2) I'm going to have to start running and working on the close to 15 lbs I put on this winter! 

But I'm not giving up! Heading to DeSmet with a friend today to try and land some 'bows for his smoker!

I got one more ice day in me.  IF I didn't have a dentist appointment Thursday I would probably go out again.

Then the ice stuff will be put down to collect dust till the next winter arrives.

Should be on the boat by the end of March.

The Green River was open completely when I crossed it on I-80 on Sunday. It was completely frozen last Thursday. Things are starting to melt fast down here. May try Fontenelle again this Thursday as some of the other reservoirs I would like to try are probably loaded with deep slush. Don't really want to admit it but I don't know if I will be on the ice again after next week unless some of the snow melts and we happen to get a little cold spell to firm things up. For you guys who have lived in the Rock Springs/Green River area for awhile do you think this was one of the warmer and windier winters here in a few years?

I'm (hopefully) going for two more trips to Pactola. Maybe some late KH action... Or possibly even Healy, haven;t been there for quite some time either.

For the rest of you I am dismayed... In a van on my way back into Gillette from work, and it's RAINING! Heading to Pac in the morning for one last Laker hoorah! I'm afraid the ice's time is limited...

Whelp, it has been a really quick ice season and it's sad to see the cold go. I am headed out to Viva Naughton for the last trip of the year. It should be a beautiful day and what a great note to end the season upon. A blue bird day with actual blue birds and 45 degree weather, what more could a person ask for. I will join the migration over to our open water site and enjoy the open water fishing. See most of you over their, and until next ice season, keep your lines tight and your days bright! It was great conversations and good times.

Thought my ice fishing season was over last week until I went out to Viva Naughton today (Thursday), for the first time, and barely got my auger through the ice! May still get out a few more times with so much ice on Naughton. The fishing was good as well.

Fremont still has lots of ice as well, plenty of time to ice fish....if you want to....
