I was on I88 today back and forth to Chicago and saw a few guys out on farm ponds on the way home.  Does anyone know if that larger lake just short of 39 to Rockford is public or private.  I've always wanted to stop and try it out but never made an effort to check.

That's lake sule right next to 39 and yes it's open to the public, but the lake that is just west a little bit on 88 is closed in the winter.

Oneice do you ever do any good at argyle?  I fished open water there a few times with little to show for a it but never had a chance to ice it. Always wondered if it was an better thru the ice.
