canandaigua lake bait shop?
« on: Feb 20, 2014, 05:59 PM »
Hey sorry if this is on here somewhere already, im new to the forum.  First post.  Im going to be going to Canandaigua lake tomorrow. Im from rochester and im going to be meeting my buddy at the Canandaigua wegmans at 6am.  Anyone know of a bait shop around rochester open at 5am, or one around the Canandaigua wegmans? Thank you.

I don't think you will find any bait shops open at 5am but jay-ve opens at 6 and s&r on Culver. Also I am not aware of any shops in the area around canandagua. Maybe the outdoor store on 5&20 but not sure. Good luck out there its been tough.

There is a baitmachine at the north end of the lake at Sutters marine right by the pier that the owner of JV stocks and he just re stocked it tonight as i was talking with him.  He has spikes waxworms and minnows stocked in it if thats what your looking for.
In search for the big one i can put on the wall

There is also Mitchell's on Lake Ave. by Charlotte but I believe they are also 6 AM. The problem with the Outdoor Store on 5&20 is that it opens late-8 or 9 AM.

Ya, one bucket is right. The outdoor store doesn't open til 9am

I usually get my bait from there the night before if I want to get an early start. Only place in the area

A comment on the Outdoor Store.  They have a great selection of Carhart there.  I get my bait there; it's only a mile from where I live.  But, the water in their minnow tanks looks awful, murky yellow brown.
The minnows were fine, but I changed the water as soon as I could.  They seem to last for the 10 days we're allowed...
