Box Butte or Minatare

Anyone have an ice report from either lake today? Spoke with some buddies who went to Smith today and had a lot of water on top of the ice, and not real thick.

4-5 in off the point at Minatare. I wouldn't go on it tomorrow.
Heard it was thicker near the damn.

Wow that didn't take long for the ice to go bad, kids and I were out last Sunday with tons of ice out there.  Thanks for the info.

Don't misunderstand me, there is good ice out there. Just not off the point near the lighthouse.

20" still solid at Box.  But fishing was tough.

Ended up taking 2 of the 3 kids to Box Bute Sunday, 18 northern, 3 perch, 1 14.5 inch crappie, and a nice bluegill.  Had a blast, thanks for the info guys!

I seriously doubt you can get on Minatare.  Much as I hate to say it, I think it is over until next year.

Good fishing,

Keith

Saturday, we waded the last 15' (about 6" of water) when we left the ice as we bid farewell to the Lake Minatare ice fishing season.  Boat time is rapidly approaching!

Good fishing,
Keith
