Erie Lures???

I am going to be on Erie for those Magical Marble Eyes this coming weekend with my son. I was curious as to which size/ color Rapalas we should be packing.
Also what brand/size/ color spoons have been working best for you guys this year.
We were over there 1 other time, 3 years ago and it seemed as though the #7 Rapalas in Clown color and blue/chrome worked best.
Any suggestions on a more recent pattern would be appreciated.

pulled to limits today and yesterday on those. buddy was using a blue/chrome jig rap and did well too!
find 'em before you leave, shop had nothing w/blue in them.

Next question... Does anyone ever set out tip ups out there??

I have not seen that many tip ups used for walleye in lake Erie.
When I used tip ups in smaller lakes, it was to cover large areas to find roaming fish, usualy pike,
in an un familiar lake, area.
In lake erie you do not have to find active fish , you can see where the fish are by the number of
shanties and by the number of posts on blogs like this.

This makes sense, but couldn't you up your odds by adding extra lines in the water? I have never really heard of many that use them out there!

Lake Erie is a more concentrated effort on active fish.
I use to live in Michiana and my parents live up near Ludington and I have used tip ups
to find the wondering pike while pan fishing inland lakes.
May want to check Ohio regs, need name and address on every tip up and there is a limit
on the number you can set while fishing with a rod in hand.
If you like tip ups and have good feel about them, never hurts to try.
Currently you wll but cutting through 14 inches of ice and that is a lot of drilling.

You won't be able to find the bigger bait for tip ups around here. The bait has been very small this year.

We had five out for two days with shiners  on them and no flags

My buddy fished next to some guys who had them out and the pulled 5 on them. However every other day they ran them nadda. Just like every other bait or technique walleye fishing, any day could be the day they want it a certain way.
