A Banner Morning With The Slabs (Pics)
« on: Feb 04, 2014, 12:22 PM »
It was real cold early, but what a bite we had! Bee & I met up with Sam Heaton at the fishing hole and the first holes showed fish waiting. We had three 16's, one 151/2 & other than a couple, the rest were over 12. Between the three of us, we had over 30 fish.   Best day I've had size wise this year. We did find that it's an early bite, so our next adventure will be an evening trip.
We usually get a bunch of nice smallies, but today I got two & that was all we saw.
We got checked by the warden for the first time this year.
If anyone has lost a tip up, we found one on the way off the pond.

This was the first 10 minutes

Then came Frank's first 16

Then Bee's 16 fatty

Frank with his two 16's

Here's couple of bunches that went home to the smoker

I'm just here to read what all the experts have to say.

Bee & I used plastic on tungsten and Frank ?????, he doesn't say much. In fact, if you don't see him catch one, you wouldn't know until it's over. :)  Blueberry Jr. is the same way when he's with us. :)

The guys I know south of the Mason-Dixon would flip over crappie that size thru the ice.  They get the numbers, but anything over 10" is a "quality" fish.

Any tips on where to find crappie and how much water to fish in?  I've been out a couple of times in known bodies that have crappie, and have come up empty.  Thanks.

Probably Bob "smiled" so much after catching those big fish, that the big smile tightened his eye skin down to 2 little slits and he explained it away as being the sun in his eyes. Maybe you'll get another picture of Bob smiling again soon, Bee
