Jiffy pro 4 slipping
« on: Jan 23, 2014, 03:47 PM »
I have a jiffy pro 4 8 inch auger, when I drill holes it seems to catch on hard ice and its will feel almost like a hand drill that is trying to drill a screw in to far. I don't remember it jerking like this in the past 2 seasons, and think it may be a problem. My warranty is up in 3 weeks so I want to get an idea if this is normal or if I need to call jiffy.

Mine does this also, or similar, I've always chalked it up to be the clutch disengaging when the blade is biting more than it can chew. It only seems to do it after 10+ inch of ice and when I'm about to break through. You should call Jiffy though, so it will be documented before your warranty expires, if you are that concerned.
It must be something in the water.
