I was thinking the same thing at one time. But I dismissed it based of engine weight. Aside from that I saw no reason why it couldn't be done.

Interesting and funny thread , IceDD thank you for the picture of old Sears auger it amazes me when you see old power equipment and the size and weight of some of the items. Also thank you for the chainsaw video surprised two men could lift it off the ground . I believe they have modified ice auger competitions similar to the Hot Saw ones at lumberjack shows. The ride on mower with auger attachment has probably been done by someone. I believe a picture of a modified ride on has been posted the front wheels were removed and replaced with snowmobile type skis used to pull out shanty.

This looks simpler. The pto could be hooked to an auger. Horse could pull your shelter too. Dang hay is high priced though

some great comic relief here for sure... here's the thing... anything is possible if you want to spend enough time and money...is it practical.. probably no... not when you look at the comercialy available options..
