Custom jigs and spins ratso is pretty much the idea they were trying to duplicate.

My boss caught a couple crappies last sat on the red bloodworm tipped with a waxworm.

Kevin23, I think you are thinking of the "slug bug" made by northland.

I've had decent luck with the blood worm in red, purple, and dark green.  The tails have a lot of wiggle in them!

Was this one http://www.northlandtackle.com/Category/main.taf?cat=361 But you are right, the slug bug is closer to the ratso. Either way, ratso is one of my favorite lures and out fishes both the northland jigs mentioned when put side by side. They are real expensive though unless you buy the finesse plastic bodies and paint your own jig heads for them. I can make a ratso for about 20 cents each, vs $1.10 to buy them already assembled.

I have had luck with red & white colors for the Northland blood worm.

Perch and ciscos / tullibee were the main ones who went for them. Other panfish and trout species should like them as well. ;)
