Ice Novice
« on: Dec 07, 2005, 01:15 PM »
Last year I met this crazy guy on the ice and he really taught me a lot about ice fishing in 10 minutes but I cannot remember his name..... I think it was Johnny Langer? ( I have also heard him say "Yoda Pimp")  Well anyway now I am hooked on to this ice fishing gig.  Got on the ice today for a few hours and managed 5 bluegills all around 8 inches....big nice healthy fish.  I was wondering if any of you are near Tippacanoe county, and if so possibly share some spots....i have one killer crappie hole...(12's and up).

I will be back on the ice Friday, until then glad to be a new member of iceshanty.com.

ah ha ha......just the image of a little green guy with jimmy's face in a pink zuit suit and platform shoes is just too much. He'd be clutching a jiggin stick instead of a light sabre!

Tuna,
I live off of Morse, which is about 40 minutes from Purdue (the way I drive), I will trade my lake knowledge for some river knowledge, sound fair?
I wish I was good at ice fishing!

High Tide, I have one crappie spot that is dynamite, there are also some monster bass and bluegill in there.  I walked on the ice there today and it was about 2 inches.  I will most likely fish that lake with the Pimple tomorrow.

Carp, this fall was horrible on the river I only caught about 30 keeper walleye, compared to last year when I got 30 a night sometimes.  The water was too low and the walleye stayed in the larger sections of river and the Wabash.

I am looking foward to fishing on the ice this winter, well at least until mid January.  I also know of this private spring/creek fed pond that is 60 ft deep and has walleye in it.  I know for a fact because there is a guy I fish with that has been stocking the pond for 4 years now.  All of those walleye were 14 or better and last winter he caught 3 under 10 inches.......that means they are doing something right in there.

Hey Jimmy, you better be at my house at 7AM so we can get a full day on the ice.
