Not sure what valley you are talking about but was out near chippewa valley in menomonie. About 3 inches of ice and some excited early anglers.

Shawano lake is good to go, people have been fishing for over a week. I may get by there tomorrow and check the ice thickness.

Beaver Dam is horrible.  You get 6" one spot and 2" 5 feet away.  The snow on it has messed it up something fierce.  Other area lakes aren't tremendously better.  May have to take a trip to Shawano sometime in the not too distant future.

A few days a go a couple of buddys of mine went to go see how the ice was doing on the fox river.  They walked out from voyger park and met some guy that had his 4 wheeler break though the ice.  A few inches max near the shore. bad idea right now.

I have been in northern Wisconsin for the holiday weekend, now i am home in southern Wisconsin (Madison area) and was wondering how much ice is on area lakes.  I saw a few people out but was just curios how the weather affected the ice here.  Thanks for any information.

I have friends up at big Sis (near Hayward WI) this week and as of yesterday people were driving on the lake with 12-15 inches of ice. Fishing is slow but hopefully the big crappies will turn on. Northerns were picking up and a few walleyes were being caught as well.
Hard water, cold beer, and a warm shanty make for a good day!

Ice is not looking so hot at Blackhawk Lake in Iowa Co..  The shallower water (-18 feet) was allright but once You got out over the deeper water only about 3-4 inches of Ice with allot of water on top
may Your auger allways be sharp and Your bucket allways be full

Ice on Redstone... Sauk County holding it's own. Just enough cold at night to rebuild losses. Average of 7-8" with isolated spooky areas that are easily avoided. Caution is to be exercised. Some ATV travel...not reccomended by myself until we get another cold snap. Dutch Hollow to the west of Redstone...is also in fair shape with variable ice conditions from 4-8". Good catches of crappie and bluegill with isolated Walleye being caught on Redstone...small emerald shiners on genz bugs as well as Fat Boy jigs tipped with a few Euros does the trick for the gills and crappie. Have Fun!

Ice conditions continue to improve on Redstone and Dutch Hollow. Redstone has a very solid 8" plus base at the lower end as well as 6-8" overall with the colder temps has gotten better by the minute. No vehicle traffic although ATV's have been using the ice. No cars or trucks. Good fishing continues with catches of crappie and bluegills common place and spotty walleye action as well, off lake points. Gilldriller
