warm up coming

anyone have any predictions on how the warm up is going to affect the ice?supposed to get some hard rain this weekend.hope it doesn't mess with the ice! :tipup:

The early freezing lakes that already have quite a bit of ice should be alright as long as the water level doesn't rise too much, heck may even fish in a hoodie or maybe tshirt this weekend if not too much rain comes. Nights are going to be cold next week, so should simply firm any slush or water on top of the ice back up.

But its going to wreak havoc on the ones that are just starting to cap, primarily the bigger lakes. This last cold spell was pretty disappointing for getting new caps forming, with all the wind and snow.

Only in PA do we go from teens/ single digits, to 60s, within a few days.

This weather report stinks to say the least.  I think with this warm up and rain coming we are more than likely going to be back to the waiting game.

lakes with spillways and not much inflow will do well the others  floating iceburgs
