Anyone been to martens lake on sweets marsh yet this year. wondering what the ice is looking like

Today and tomorrow's weather is not looking good I'd stay away till at least this weekend. Not sure if anyone has been there yet.

I was there on Sunday. The ice was getting a bit crappy where you want to fish in the shallows due to the weeds absorbing the sun. Prob a good idea to wait till this weekend when it firms up again.

Saw 4 trucks there this morning fish must be biting there I went to Volga and got 12 crappies and some small bluegills

Got 6 in of ice. This would be better if I drove out here

Ok bounced around some more. Drilled a hole got a nice gill in seconds. Had a few more really good bites. Moved the.shack got set up now zilch. **censored**

went to sweets Marsh today, 4 other people there everybody seems to be moving around not catching anything. after 2 hours of drilling holes and not even seeing a fish ive packed it up. was anybody from here over there this morning?

How thick has the ice gotten on the marsh?

I was there yesterday afternoon. I didn't measure it but I would say ice was 7-8 inches thick. Fish were biting decent, caught over 20 gills and one crappie in a couple hours.

Spent a couple hours out there Sunday. Caought 1 really nice gill. Other then that it was hard to mark a fish.

I've only been out there twice this year, first time I went it was like the dead sea. One bite in 5hours of fishing. I went out there last Saturday and caught them good. It was hit or miss like that last year as well for me.

definitely was the Dead Sea today. 1 real solid blue go about halfway through the day. talk to a couple guys who said the crappies what real good this morning but shut off around 830

Hope to get up there and check it soon. Its usually one of the first places locally with good ice.

had a duck hunter told me he was walking on the ice last Thursday to retrieve his ducks. wont be long now

Hopefully the fishing is better then last year. I never did have much luck over there last year. the year before was a totally different story though

Very rough winter last year! Always the best first ice though! I usually hit it early in the year and never go back

Checked sweets tonight after work. There's 4 inches of ice above the dam. Ice hut tracks go across to the lake, so it looks like guys are fishing it. Only had time to pop a couple holes , but ice seemed consistent.
