Very slow day for us yesterday.  Wind was brutal.

Saturday, we had plenty of ice at DCL.  About 20" with slush and water on top later in the day.  Cold night temps should keep it around for a while.

The wind was brutal, and worsened after dark.  We had to cut our evening short because the wind was howling and it started to rain pretty hard.  Even though we were in our Fish Traps, the wind had them shaking like there was an earthquake.

Rain rain stay away...if so, we'll have decent ice until April.

Saturday was awesome. Tried the state park cove for an hour or so n jigged up one pickerel in 5 fow. Then headed to the cove near the park, the one with the bridge, idk which that one is called. But after a few drops in abandoned holes I quickly found the gills and limited out in an hour or so. 20 fow.

If anyone is out today or tomorrow, would appreciate knowing if you were able to get on with/without a plank.  I was hoping to come down Saturday but am hearing of guys going in getting off the ice.  So I'm wondering how much open water is between the shore and the ice so I can plan accordingly.
Thanks.

I fished Turkey Neck this evening. Marked a lot of fish but they were dinks. It seems the water level has raised a few feet from when I was up three weeks ago. There was maybe 2 feet of open water at the bank but I was able to step out on good ice. Found nice crack maybe 10 yards from the banks that ran parallel to the bank. Spud went straight through. Used a plank to cross, 10-14 inches of good ice after that. Should have stayed at the house, wind was awful and got skunked.

Headed to GG with my son tomorrow morning.  Some of the safest ice on the lake.  Looking at some of recent post on the DCL page gives me a bit of hesitation!   Whats the safety factor?  Anyone have advice?  Thanks !

I talked to a buddy yesterday that said where there are rocks the open water is 4 to 5ft. And you needed a ladder to get on

Ghart, I was planning on going there as well and taking out a buddy for the first time.  Am really second-guessing it at this point.  I know GWebb didn't have trouble getting on at Turkey Neck but who knows what the sun/wind has done to the shoreline.  Last Saturday Green Glade was solid and edges were good but there was hardly any one out.  And the fishing sucked.  I just hate to drive a couple hours to find it to be too iffy for me.

Thanks for the note.  Got 52 degrees and wind blowing hard. Not a good combo for ice.  Just checked the potomac. Water is green and running good.  I'll go Chase Walleye instead and trout when the sun comes up.  Good bye DCL.......  May we all be blessed with a good ice season next year!!

Fished Turkey Neck near the yacht club today. Getting on was pretty easy, had my ladder and used it to cross one crack that was open yesterday. Fished until around 7pm or so. It was a very slow day. Landed maybe 12 fish total, 2 gills, 1 walleye and the rest dink perch. Couldn't find the jumbos to save my life. Marked a lot of fish but they mostly were sniffers. The wind and temps chewed it up pretty good where I got on. I thought for sure I would end up going for a swim when I got close to shore but with the ladder I was able to cross what was an iffy spot that turned into a 4-6" gap. Once I was within 4' of the bank the water wasn't over my boots so I stayed dry. If you go make sure to take a plank/ladder.
