Tobin Lake 2013-2014
« on: Dec 01, 2013, 12:01 PM »
I've heard reports of 7-9" on the river portion of the lake as well as the same amount at EB Campbell Dam, no reports of anyone being out on the big lake with sleds or ice conditions. Post up if you have any reports from Tobin, I'm more interested in ice reports at this point. I know the boys at Tobin know better than to share how fishing actually is ;)

I didn't take your advice, lol. Had a day off so out at Carrols Cove. Cold and windy today, but warm in my popup.

Anyone know if its worth to stay at the tobin lake resort and do some ice fishing in December in front of the resort? We usually come up in the summer to fish Tobin but have always wanted to fish it in the winter............

until I can actually physically make it out their im just blowing smoke telling everybody its ****ty, lol I need more hours in a day...

Any reports of people driving out on the flats yet? Heard that vehicles were on the ice at Gingeras yesterday, but didn't hear an actual ice depth figure. We can't be far off driving on the big lake I figure.

A buddy drilled his way out on the flats on Wednesday, anywhere from 5-11", stay safe!

Yikes, well in that case looks like we have a week or more of cold weather before driving out that way, I don't like driving out on less than 12", 5" is just crazy! Thanks for the heads up.

So, any trucks going out onto the flats yet? I know trucks have been on at Gingeras and Carrols Cove. Waiting to get out on the big lake. Any reports on ice out on the flats would be great.

I was on the big lake last weekend, drove out with truck, 2 weeks prior there was 7-9 inches. Last weekend there was 23 inches at my shack.

Thanks for the update, I was out at Carols Cove on Monday and got that same message about half way through the day, if it wasn't so windy I would have picked up and left, it was very slow that day, nothing like a couple weeks before in the same spot.

We are heading to Tobin for the day tomorrow to fish either Tobin lake resort or Gingerras. Just wondering if anyone has fished either place in the last few days and could let me know if guys have been driving on and how the fishing was

After the wind and snow we got on Friday how is driving out on the big lake? Can you still get onto the lake at the South end of the flats? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Yup heard from many sources that unless you want to dig out your truck bring a sled to the flats, too bad, I didn't even get to drive out to Elk Island once this year. Hate this snow and this cold sucks too.

Got my truck stuck out on the flats the other day just gotta pick up speed and don't stop. I thought I seen a heave so I slowed down so I guess it's my own fault.

The drifts are pretty hard out there a guy can stand on top of alot of them sleded about 20miles on the lake today she was pretty rough the wind and cold weather in the forecast won't help that situation.

How's the fishing?  Where is a good place to go coming in from the south?

this weekend's trip up to Tobin was cancelled(wheel bearing on truck).  Planning on going next weekend.  What is the ice thickness like up there?  The past two years we've been skunked everytime.  Where is the best place to fish keeping in mind that we don't know the lake.  We will probably be going in from the resort side again.
