Gull Lake,2013-14
« on: Nov 25, 2013, 08:14 PM »
Figured since Gull was a popular topic last year,I'd get it started this year.I will be keeping a close eye on the ice conditions & reporting here ,often. Hoping to meet some new friends this winter, out there.Still planning on a trolling trip or 2 on the toon, just depends on the weather.

don't forget about the web cam for those who want to watch for ice from home. also, to enlarge it, just zoom in and reload to get your screen full sized view of it.

i have never fished it, its too far for daily fishing, when good fishing is so close to home

I've never ice fished in the bay.  I was never quite sure where to park and not tick anyone off.

I seen it on my way home from duck hunting :P,Too darn bad its supposed to warm up in a few days >:( Kind of amazed that the body of water we hunted this A.M., was still open,& it produced some decent duck shooting! Happy Thanksgiving to all !

I saw on the cam that the bay was froze over. Now I see there is some snow over that way. With these temps should be on there real soon.

Drove by the bay tonight and watched some guy try to get his sail boat off the lake, last one in the bay. Not sure why he waited so long....he was in a little row boat chopping ice with his paddle. Pretty funny to watch. Wont be long now.

I just got home from checking south bay;there is about 4" of ice,20'-30 ft. from the dock.I did not have my spud, but I was able to check a hole that someone drilled. It appears that someone has been fishing near the docks.2nd. bay is froze over, but I did not check it.I will try to do that tommorrow, but it depends on how late I have to work.As of now,I am planning on fishing Fri. night,on south bay.More ice & fishing reports to come ;D

There was no slush, where I went,BUT,I did not go very far,w/out a spud. Also, not much snow on the ice, contrary to how it looks. Like I said, planning on fishing ,tommorrow night, but I will be careful. As a retired scoutmaster,I have spent a few nights ,sleeping in sub-zero temps.,however,I am not ready to take the "polar bear plunge" ;D.Tommorrow night,I will have my friend ,Mike lead the way,he is younger than me & can swim better  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. Honestly,w/ the cold temps we have had,I THINK,the ice will be fine.We will see......hope Mike doesnt read this ;D
