Fished devils and Lamont today. Devils produced one early then it was dead so we packed up and headed to Lamont. Caught a mixture of bass rainbows perch and blue gill. Some really nice gills for me 8+ inchers. Small perch and bass. Some decent trout. Bites came in waves throughout the day. All in all not a bad day.

Fished Lamont for a few hours today and caught two fish! Worst day for me this year. Weather was awesome. Ice is great.

Which pond were you on?  If you can explain it easy enough.  I fished there a couple years ago and caught a ton of planter rainbows but nothing else.

Fished Devils Creek today. Didn't do near as well as the last few trips. One fish iced, a couple smallbites. Others seemed to be doing fare though. Four to six inches of snow on top and to four to five inches of slush away from shore. Ice seemed to be around 18-20 inches or so. Also fished Glendale. Mixture of trout and perch. 3-4 inches of snow on 20ish inches of ice. Snowing like a bugger when I left.

fished Johnson yesterday, and it rained the whole time we were there (of course this was the one trip where i didn't bring a shelter).
about 6" of snow on top of 4" of slush, more than enough ice (roughly 17 inches or more), but the snow was heavy enough to push the ice down and bring the water level to 2 inches above the hole.

in short, waterproof boots and pants are a must at Johnson. you WILL get wet.

however, we caught lots of good bluegill (i lost count at 30 fish), some small trout, one 8" perch and a little 8" largemouth; all in just 4 hours of fishing.

For trout I would say the two most eastern ponds. I would start on the bigger one on the southeast corner.

the road to Johnson was a bit nasty, there's a set of ruts in the snow that you'll have to follow, but if you have good 4-wheel drive you'll make it to the dam no problem.

i can't guarantee driving to the far end of the road, we didn't attempt that, and it's pretty much snowed over.

I have nothing to add here about fishing, but I would like to say that is a crazy water system and great graphic massNtrash, really got my head spinning.

good to know! it's become my more preferred pond since the bluegill and bass in there are larger on average, it's much more blocked from the wind, and there's enough trees around the whole thing that it feels much more private and isolated.

really? go buy yourself some 4" rubber curltail worms in a dark green or brown color, some offset worm hooks, and some bullet sinkers.

rig it up like this

cast it next to any big stick piles or along weedbeds and reel it in just fast enough to get the tail turning. especially early june, you'll get multiple hits. it's kinda hard to tell when you've been hit, so if you feel something weird just set the hook.

small crankbaits work too, i like a gold floating rapala in a size 6 or so.

there's some big bass out there, i've seen fish that could go 4 pounds sitting on their beds in spring, but i haven't been able to even get within casting distance before they spooked.
