I got out this morning for a little while before work. I picked my way out to 26' of water. I fished for an hour and picked up a limit of eyes and one short.

I was off the north shore in Cleveland, not out of APPS though. The ice varied from 2" - 5" with a few spots where the spud went through in one shot and I had to work my way around. There is anywhere from 1" - 3" of snow on top so you cannot see where you are walking.

If you got out PLEASE USE A SPUD AND SPUD EVERY STEP!

First keeper of the year.

I got to try out a new Christmas Present (cleaning table) and it worked great.

You are beast Bruce!  Great job!  I'm bigger than you I'' wait until it is 5" to 7" LOL

Great fish! Congrats, even chief for the nasty one.
The whole east end was as snagger said about edgewater 100-200' sections which formed shoves and locked together.
South bay and lewis too.  If you saw it a couple days ago you'd understand. Be careful and spud.
Last weekend on parts of south bay & lewis the pieces weren't even fused together they were rocking back and forth.

I think they got it from Bass Pro in Utica. The legs are long so it is about countertop height so no crouching over. The faucet hooks up to a hose and the drain is flexible and it goes into a pail.

We'll be spending some time off the north shore this season for sure. Scott is on a mission I guess. We'll have to get together again.

Nice job Freddy, that sounds like some good action.

I might poke around the south shore this weekend and see what's up. Good luck everyone. The forecast is looking good for building some ice next week! Can't wait to get out there with a machine.

Hello diehards. Im going to try for the walleyes & perch up there this season, and want to make it a overnight trip. Im looking for some cheap lodging (under 100dollars would be nice). I have a price from Angler's Bay which i thought was reasonable. Gonna call Apps next. Any other places you could recommend??   Thanks in advance.

fished big bay this morning. ended up with a limit of gills, 4 crappies, and a 12" perch. a ton of small gills. caught somewhere around 300 to get 50 keepers. no weeds to speak of. 4" of black ice. 1" of white ice on top.

Made it out today. Fished from 7 to 2 and ended up with a limit. The only walleyes I caught all day. Two on the slender spoon and the other on a bladebait (which it absolutely smoked!!!  ;D ) Also caught one dink perch. Ice varies greatly from spot to spot. Bring a spud if you go and use your head. There were a few guys out there who I thought would take a swim before the day was done but, nobody fell in from what I could see. Conditions should improve after next week. Be Careful and STAY ON TOP!!!
