just make or buy an adapter and use a cordless drill. I drilled 21 6" holes thru 7" of ice the other day with a 3 year old dewalt battery.
Buy a rigid drill from Home Depot and get free batteries for life.

Most any motor with a clockwise rotation will do. Just have an adapter made up. Simple for anyone with a lathe.

You can get a powerhead with a drill chuck. Or a gas powered drill, like they use for tapping maple trees. Here is a Tanaka with a drill chuck:

Or a gas drill: http://www.toolbarn.com/tanaka-ted270pfr.html

The Lazer will slip right onto the Ion power head.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

I picked up the ice master drill attachment for $26, and put it on my 5" lazer.  My Milwaukee 18V drill slices right threw 11" ice like it wasnt there.

Its quiet, and light weight.  I use it for running and gunning for perch, and have cut over 40 holes on a single freshly charged battery.  I do carry a spare battery with me, but the two combined dont weigh more than a gas power head..

Just a thought

Won't you be breaking blade bolts all the time by putting it on a powerhead????
