Just wondering where you would hook a single treble for best hooking %'s?  Middle, head, tail?  I like the idea of flurocrabon and a single treble (less tackel for dish to see)  I am not so worried about gut hooking as I will be keeping all pike but the huge bruts.... Regards, FT

Right behind the fin under the backbone, but not deep enough to go into the guts.

I agree with both of these guys. But I do tend to hook it slightly farther back.

I use a single treble quite often, and since we can only use dead baits here I like to center punch my baits, that way the fish should get the hooks right in the mouth.

In the second method I wrap an elastic band around my baits a few times and then run the loops through the 3 trebles on the hook to keep it on, that way the hooks are fully exposed. A red elastic band is preferred for an injured look, but the other colors will do in a pinch.

The last method is to hook one of the trebles through the back right in the middle of the bait.

I hook goldens and most other shiners right in the back below the dorsal fin seems they hit from the side often, I don't catch tons but I also don't miss many. With suckers I hook the through the lips and make sure I let the pike actually eat the bait. If I am using perch I clip the tail or the fins a bit or give it a tap on the head  ;D to slow it down but I still hook it in the back.
