Start in Thunder Bay and work your way west. It's a big lake with several different bites.
BIG BAIT, BIG FISH!!

Just got back from a 12 day ice fishing trip in Vilas cty. We spent 3 days on LVD - if you want to chase flags all day then the west end is fun. We caught at least 100 small pike - no size as usual, but after a few days of very slow action on other lakes we had a blast. Caught some nice walleyes on the south shore (look for a white boat house about mid lake that sits by all by itself and fish the weed lines in 7 - 12 fow. Large shiners from 4pm to 7:30pm) We hit perch in a number of places from Misery to Rice and many places in between. Started out between desolation point and draper island and caught some - keep moving around the islands. Best success was in 8 fow on a Bro Bug with red waxies. We noticed that the noses were reddish - they are pounding the bottom for bugs. Didn't find any crappies or gills with size. As far as all the lakes we went to, LVD gave up the most. Mid lake was tough getting around due to slush and drifts, but were able to take our time and get where we wanted to.

Good luck!!
