Entries have been very slow this year...about 20 for LMR and 12 or so for Middle.
Going to announce early next week a
probable
change from Middle to Upper Thompson as Middle is open again. Want to make sure everyone who wants to pre fish can have at least a week to do so, and ice conditions aren't looking good...Stay tuned!
Perchslayer 95...you are more than welcome, they ARE sweet aren't they??

Mike,
The P-A rods make the ultimate dead sticks for big fish. With the soft tip you can watch your minnow swimming and tell when it gets excited due to a big fish and when a fish takes the bait there is a super strong back bone to set the hook and fight the fish. Perch Assault rods, catches them big AND small!!!

THE MIDDLE THOMPSON EVENT HAS BEEN CHANGED TO UPPER THOMPSON. THE MIDDLE THOMPSON EVENT HAS BEEN CHANGED TO UPPER THOMPSON. THE MIDDLE THOMPSON EVENT HAS BEEN CHANGED TO UPPER THOMPSON. THE MIDDLE THOMPSON EVENT HAS BEEN CHANGED TO UPPER THOMPSON.
IT WILL ONLY INCLUDE "UPPER" UPPER THOMPSON, WEST OF WHERE THE BRIDGE CROSSES THE LAKE ON RAINBOW LAKE ROAD.
TOURNAMENT HQ WILL BE RIGHT AT THE PULLOUT BEFORE THE BRIDGE. THE ONLY OFFICIAL ENTRANCE AND EXIT TO THE LAKE WILL BE AT THAT LOCATION.
EVERYTHING ELSE REMAINS THE SAME...

Is there normally a Perch Assault Tourney at Lake Francis here in Valier? I see in the first post that there won't be this year. Bummed if I missed in the past and hopeful that it will happen in the future.

It was approved but was cancelled from what I heard after fall netting surveys by F&G. This was going to be first one east of the divide from what I heard.

I am not sure PA's plan for next year. I hope they do a east side derby. I know a lot of the guys that fish East Fork and CF would love to fish a PA tournament. I would love to fish one but I want to spend a few days being able to pre-fish prior to the tournament. Me personally I can't afford to drive over to LMR to prefish, pay entry fee plus 4-5 nights of lodging during pre-fishing and tournament. I am hoping they do a Beaver Creek or Pishkun perch derby. I know both of those lakes have good populations of adult perch.

In the same boat,Frances is closer and I have some knowledge of the lake, the other two are out of my pay grade to show up early enough to be competitive.Be careful what you say Icing, that kind of post will get you ridiculed by some on here!

I am committed...(or oughta be
) to a Perch Assault on the east side. Had I done a little more homework, maybe we could of pulled off the one this year. I will be talking with some bio's over there this year before we submit for any and will find a place where it will work.
It may be a lake that is aways away from a town, so be prepared to camp, or drive aways. Or it might be right close by. Will try and make it a lake that doesn't get fished much, and that you will have to work at it to gain an advantage.
I know we won't please everyone, but at least it will be closer to central MT...Feedback/ideas always appreciated
Its your tournament!

Thanks for the response. Makes sense if the perch population wasn't quite up to having an "Assault". I haven't been skunked yet when targeting perch through the ice this season but have only taken home what I know the wife and I can eat.
I will keep checking next season to see if a derby gets scheduled for Francis. Sounds like fun.

sitting in my camper at the silo's on iceshanty. Looking forward to the PA in March but something a little less than 300 miles would be sweet. Appreciate your efforts Mike and hope to have a weigh in a little closer to home some day. See ya in a Month. And to all of you that haven't made the trip, think about it its a blast.

Quick question on these tourneys as hopefully I make it to LMR in March. How does the culling process work? Sounds like you weigh in your top 10 fish each day. How do people keep their fish alive to be able to cull out the smaller ones and successfully let them go alive??
