Does anyone know what the ice conditions are on cowan lake these days. Also wanted to ask if a guy can usually find good fishing spots walking onto this lake without haveing to walk 10 miles. Once the ice gets thick enough can a guy usually get on with a car or is it 4x4's only.

ya man walk on pretty much anywhere, i like to be close to the bar  ;D drill hole, drop jig and hold on.  after xmas there'll be a good road at the end of main street going to the two ice towns and any little car would be fine.  try to get down close to the bullrush on the other side of the lake.

not sure, but if i had to guess i'd bet there's guys driving on already.

Hi travishenderson,

If you go NW of Shellbrook you will come to the towns of Shell Lake and Mount Nebo, there are a few lakes in those areas, like Big and Little Shell lake just to name a few.
Use Sask. search (villages) or Goggle earth to get a topographical view of the area and you will see all the lakes in that area.

I am not sure what they are like to fish at, but they are in your general area.

You can also use Sask. fishing lakes to see what is in most of the lakes.

Good luck. :)

Do you know if any of these lakes are accessible by shore in the open water season? Or would you recommend a boat?

Thanks

Hi Green Fish,

I am not sure what they are like to shorefish for sure, as I have never tried them.

Contacting the nearest conservation officer field station might help you.

Good Fishin'. :)
