Looking for suggestions on new boots
« on: Nov 06, 2011, 05:35 PM »
Hi all, after my whole rigamorole with Itasca boots last year, I am through with them.  I returned them for store credit and then spent that on a new flippin stick for this year, so my problem is, I am bootless for this season.  Anyone have any suggestions as to which boots to buy?  Looking for something warm and dry, price is not an issue because I hate cold wet feet!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks guys.

I've had a pair of Ranger Summit's for 5 years that I really like. Available at Fleet Farm and other large retailers, around $110.00 or so.  ;D

I always have cold feet out fishing or hunting.  Last year I bought Muck Arctic Pro Extremes and fished in slush and negative degree weather and my feet finally stayed warm and dry.  Highly recommend them.

I have been a MuckBoot person for 4 years. Last year I did the Muck Boots Arctic Pro Extreme. As was said " The best boots I have ever had on my feet"
I'm 70 years plus and have had them all. These boots were designed by someone who knew what they were doing. Good fit, good arch support, good sole/traction,
great insulation value, easy on/off.  @muckbootsonline for$135 (free delivery, free return), I saw them today @ Cabelas in camo for $179 + tax.

Have you had any issues with driving a truck or wheeler with these boots on?  They seem huge and that was one of the reviews i saw was that they wont fit under the shifting lever on a wheeler, thats got me a little nervous but I like the reviews.

You are correct they are huge and will not fit under the shift lever. But they are the warmest boot I have owned.
I will not drive a vehicle with them on.

So I guess that I am now between the Muck Arctic pro extreme and the Cabelas pac boot but I dont like the big size.  Anyone have any experience with the Ice Armor boots?  I have the extreme suit and I must say its some quality gear, just wondering if the boots are any good.

If your concern is the ATV shifter one option would be a heel toe shifter put one on my quad works fine with all boots.

I've used my Mickey Mouses for 10+ years - NEVER cold feet!!!  Little bulky and clumsy, but i'll take that over cold feet any day.

Cabela's Predator Extreme PacBoot.  They have removal felt liner booties with spots for toe warmers, great in extreme cold or long sitting spells.  I have issue with my feet but never had a problem after buying these.  They are bulky and heavy, dont drive a car in them, put them on in the field or lake.

Just got a pair of kamik patriot 3's delivered from cabelas.  They had them on sale from $130 down to $59.99  couldn't pass it up.  Every where else on the web their still going for MSRP.  Haven't had em out in the cold yet but they seem very well made and should be plenty warm with an all rubber bottom and seam sealed construction on the leather uppers.

I use LaCrosse Icde Kings and am veryi hkappy with them.  The Muck boot sounds good to me but I don't know if I'd like the taller boot.

Fishercat, the heal toe ATV shifter did you purchase one or fabricate it. I know it's about boots, but would appreciate the help. Looked at a Moose hand shifter not sure I want to go that route.

I have been the whole route had the Moose hand shifter and will give it to you free but you do not want it. The heel toe shifter was purchased. What do you have for a quad??
I do not use my quad a lot for ice fishing but I do a lot of winter time riding on trails.

I am surprised no one mentioned Baffin Titans yet.   If you find you will be standing in the deep slush or ice water, then I highly recomend these extreme rubber insulated boots.  They are huge though.  Perhaps the Mucks have a better fit , but I can certainly vouch for the Baffin Titans after weeks of brutal slush and ice water, ice fishing
