Just had a question about Sandy Pond. Me and a few buddies fished it last year in February and the perch were small. The guy at Fat Nancy's told us that we had to get up there early in the season to hit the big perch. So my question is: About when does the pond get safe ice? Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

They were small because you were in the wrong spot. You have to move around and find them. I will move five times a day just to find the big ones. Not just 50 yards.

Did you fish in front of the wigwam only?

We started out about 500 yards out and to the right from the Sandy Pond Steak House, then moved to about 300 yards from the breaker wall, then moved to right in front of the Steak House.  We wanted to go out to the inlet because we had heard that was the place to be, but the quad could hardly make it through the slush.

I can't wait to hit the big pond I just got the wheeler on the trail so I hope the slush isn't as bad this year.

And the year before was bad too when we got done fishing a buddy of ours was towing us around in my jet sled with the snowmobile and it felt like I was tubing behind a boat.
We go out of the steak house and there is usually a trail packed down but if you get off it to fish some where it don't go it's a struggle.

Been good. Getting some venison to grill up on the ice. Looking forward to doing some fishing this winter. You guys will have to do some night fishing with me for crappies.

What time of the season is the slab fest up there we have a camp on little sandy and go for perch early and pike late. we are yet to get in to the crappies on little or big sandy.

Sounds good boogey. The kids are good. They are ready to fish. Capthook88 and I are going to do alot of fishing this year. We are looking forward to hit some new areas. The summer was kind of boring. I like the hard water better. Looking forward to getting together with you and doing some fishing. Hopefully we can keep the wheelers on top this year.

Yes stay away from the island I have seen lots of machines go through the ice there. Yes fishtank we should get out there after the freezers are full and ice is hard. My little guy is looking forward to another trophy at your tournament!

Fish Tank, Nice buck. What did he dress out? Did you save the mount? Every one who may not know Tank, the guy is about 6'-6 or better. That should give you a perspective on what a nice buck that is. You will be binging a couple of briskets out on the ice for grilling eh?

He was 175lbs dressed. Not gonna mount this one I have a few bigger ones on the wall already, I will just do the whole plaque thing. I have a few packages already labeled for "Ice meat" lol!
