Long waiting is over! New version of Propilkki 2 is now released!

New in version 0.85

1) Re-designed 3D engine. Fixes 3D drawing order issues and is faster. Utilizes more display adapter capabilities.
2) Graphical improvements.
3) Widescreen and high resolution support (optimal resolution is 1280x720).
...4) Public host list. Adding your own game to public list and viewing ongoing public games is implemented in the game. (see /hello –command below).
5) /results –command (in-game results).
6) 4 new lakes: Lahnalammet, Korpipuro, Metsälampi and Kolmisoppi.
7) Wider zoom area, more lake is now visible (faster zoom with control-key).
8) Anti-cheating protections improved.
9) Occasional corruption of graphics (ie fonts) in Windows7:ssa and Windows Vista is fixed.
10) New menu music tracks.
11) RecMerger –tool included in the package (tool to merge records.dat –files).
12) Several other bugfixes and improvements.

The new version is great ..... Now with international hosts ..... Played last night with practically every country in Europe

There is a bug in Ver 8.5 and 8.51 fixes it.  Something about how they forgot to take the beta test trial out and it quits working after a couple days

Mikko...If you read this can you explain how the new version finds the hosts.  Is there a website to post IP's too that the game reads from.  As always, thanks for the game and the time you take to keep us updated here on IS.

I just tried to download and I got error message. A cute little picture of a box and vehicles saying the site was experiencing too much traffic. Has anyone else experienced this?

If kalassa.net is under too much traffic, you can try to download it from some our collaborators pages directly, e.g. www.propilkki.no

There is some threads in kalassa.net, which are used to send IP-addresses etc.. but now it is highly recommended to use this list only. We will later publish  (if needed) direct link to that web-page, which shows the same listing than the game (but you can easily sort that list there).

just downloaded 8.51 last night. whenever i get past the first page (select single or multiplayer), it gets really laggy and is unplayable. is anyone else having this problem? i had the previous version and it worked great.

First thing to check: is your graphics adapter set to "program decides" mode.

Second: Update of graphics adapter driver may help you. It is recommended to do as "clean" (1. remove old driver 2. reboot 3. install new driver). You should also be aware of your motherboards chipset drivers.

Nvidia drivers has been the "pain in the a**", whereas ATI's catalysts have been working well.

Here is Mikkos latest message:
Previous pp2 version have been reported to cause problems with Nvidia graphic adapters. In most of the cases, update of drivers have helped. However, sometimes update has not solved the problem. Therefore we have released 0.853 patch, which may be the solution.

This 0.853 file updates the game (not a full install, just an update file!). If some new unwanted problems exists, you can always download old 0.851 version and re-install it. There are several positive feedbacks about that new version. It will also fasten a little bit other hardware-combinations too (e.g. my ATI was about 5-20% faster, depending on situation) during gameplay.
