Still on ice!!

Got out from 12:30 till dark... didnt kill the fish by anymeans but caught a nice mess. ended up keeping 35, two crappis pushin 13.5-14"... starting to hit minnows fairly decent. Ice is still 10-12" and solid where im fishing, but the edges are nasty!! The 3mm parrot fiska worked best for gills... still fishin 5fow. Caught 4 more 10-11" crappie and 5 rock bass at dark on minnows(not pictured).

from what ive seen and herd there is still fishable ice around... just becareful gettin on! a guy stepped thru tonight at the shoreline getting off! I went down further where I walked on and got off ok, but its iffy at the edges.

Nice to see ya got out and got on some WTG! Just be careful out there boys and girls!!! thick ice does not mean its safe ice. Spud, picks, rope , floatation is a must!

Well a friend and I tried it again yesterday. The bite was slow!!! managed 11 keepers total. Lots of dinks and lookers(no pics)... I think the cold front shut em down. The ice had tightend up nicely tho with no issues getting on. It sounded like thunder across the lake. Still 20-22 cranks with my 5" lazer to get thru... I don't think this ice is going anywhere soon.

Nice pics Fishslayer, it looks like late ice is paying off for you.
I got out this weekend too when I thought it would be a no go. There is still fishable ice, one just needs to be very careful and use the buddy system as well as know the body of water you are fishing. I found good hard ice in the 6 inch range on two different bodies of water. There were some suspect spots and now that the snow is on top of it, I will definitely not ventur out without a spud bar but it looks like a go for Friday and Saturday poviding that the rain predicted for Thursday holds off. Got some perch and a couple crappie with the crappie being brutamusus!

Thanks jigmup!!! Looks like you got into some nice specs aswell! Enjoy the late ice... it can be some of the best fishing of the hardwater season!
