MY FIRST ONE FOR THE WALL
« on: Jan 25, 2011, 06:22 PM »
Got my crappie back today. I am very happy with the way it looks on the wall. I need to bring a few more friends for they can swim together. Hopefully, it won't be to long.349/mitchellbishop10/GetAttachment12-1.jpg[/img]

That sure is a nice mount. How long was it. Did you have someone local to your area do it?

Realistic taxidermy in Lowell. The fish measured 15 1/2. Cost 195.00.

Thanks for the info we have an older gentleman doing pan fish here in Tipton, I think for 80 dollars but I haven't seen his work. We have a young guy just getting started and he charges 9.50 an inch.

Do you know the exact weight, or a generalization of what a 15.5 would weigh?  Im trying to put a rough length to a crappie i released, because i cant remember how long it was.  Now, looking at other threads, it seems time has stretched my fish a little bit so im just wondering.   :-\

That is a nice looking mount. I'm getting ready to do a 14 1/2'er that my son caught. He wouldn't let me fillet it.

Thats a beautiful fish and a great mount!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Nice catch!!!!!   My benchmark for a crappie on the wall is 15 and I hit it once, but didnt have the $ to mount it at the time.  That was about 5 years ago.   Hoping to hit it again someday!!!!  Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice mount, taxi did a good job. With all the eye's you catch i'm surprised your first mount is a crappie. Seems the more you catch of a spiecies the bigger your standards become for the wall. It might take a 15 lber for your walleye mount.

That is a very nice looking mount and fish.

Me too FWFeecherman.  Mine was 2 years ago, and I was in the same boat (not literally, lol).  However, I wrapped it in a wet towel, then in a plastic bag and froze it in the freezer of the beer fridge.  17.5" thru a 6" hole in the ice.  I would like to have it mounted now that I can afford it, but am embarrased by how long it sat.

I would love to mount a large walleye next. Unfortunately I have never caught one that I think is deserving of the wall. My largest was only 23 inches. I think 27 would be fair mount. aLSO, LOOKING FOR THAT 15 OR 16 PERCH. SHOULDN'T BE MUCH LONGER WITH THE WAY LAKE mICHIGAN IS PRODUCING NICE 14'S ALL THE TIME.

2 1/4-2 1/2#.

I have a 15 1/2" mounted that I caught about 20 years ago and I always thought it weighed 3 1/4 lbs. I remember it being really fat but maybe my scale was off.

Phil from realistic taxidermy, lives in Lowell. He has a great showroom, and does this for a living. Quite the set up imo.
