Hudson Lake
« on: Jan 25, 2011, 04:12 AM »
Trying a new place out today! Heard little Hudson has some bite in it, so I figured I would give it a go! Ive heard good and bad things about this lake but have not ever fished it!
Does anyone have any helpful tips?

this is a lake I'd like to try this winter. I heard early that they were getting some pike there and nice gills. Give us a report and good luck.

Live close to the lake and fish it quite a bit. Catchin some nice gills site fishing in the channel between the 2 lakes. Also have been catching some nice crappies after dark in the big lake.

Where is everyone parking? We used to park by the beach but I heard that is now frowned upon.

do you have to pay the $5 to park there or is that just to launch? Thats where I launch my boat for duck season...

yu can park at the train station which is across the street from the restaurant....one word of warning...i fell in hudson twice last yr....there are several springs in that lake....so beware....i will never ice fish there again....there was 9-10 inches on the valpo chain the day i fell in...it was 1-2" where i first fell in...had no idea..figured it was safe...saw an open hole(probably from a spring)...left my sled (and life preserver on top) and walked over to hole just to see how thick ice was and it was 1-2"....i turned to carefully walk back and in i went...went in a second time at the docks as i didnt want to go the way i came as it was a lot deeper there....it was very cold the 3-4 days prior to this trip...steve..of course little hudson is safe

We parked at little hudson on some Private-public launch! He charges 3 bucks per car for ice fishing! Not oo bad and great he lets people park there. Take lots of minnows! >:(

Going on hudson lake thursday morning. What types of artificials are they hitting on? What depth? Does anyone fish near the casino side of the lake? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Is there a bait shop around Hudson? If so, do you know when it opens?
