I WISH, the prices to stay a few days on some of those lakes is very cheap.

I so want to go to Lake of the Woods...did Devils Lake, ND last year but family business is struggling so I can't really justify it...maybe next year if the economy bounces back!!!

It's a fine line between fishing & sitting on the ice like an idiot

Amazing fishery...it was the best fishing trip I have ever been on. Limited on walleyes every day and the best jumbo perch bite I have ever had. If you get the chance...GO!!

I am heading for the Cisco Chain in the UP to my buddy's place this coming Thursday. Wives are going. My wife is amateur photographer:www.bagnaturephotos.co m. Check out her site if you have time.
Bought her a set of snowshoes so she'll be out there snapping pics.
Buddy has two shanties on Cisco so guess where we'll be?
Going back on Feb.18th for a week. A tournament both weekends. Good gills, crappie and perch. Tip ups, lots of northerns and some walleyes. Much fun.
Will post pictures when get back. ::)

Have another buddy that has a place on Leech in MN. HUGE perch!

My mistake. my wifes cousin had the little red school house resort on Chetec. Her aunt had the bar hotel on Birchwood lake. The red school house has been sold as individual condos. Seen some last year when I was looking fot some lakefront property.

I never fished Potato lake, but big muskie in there. Lots of pike in the chain though. Mud (Ojaski) Lake is the place to try for them. try around all the trees/stumps and islands (same area). you probably know this already if you been up there before. the bait shop in town with the big fish outside of it is a great resource. They will give you good information. Also try B & B if you have not already! It is across the street from the bait shop. Gotta love deep fried wisconsin cheese!!

Thanks for the tips!   We've never been to these lakes, usually go to hayward (Euclair lakes) but  decided to try something new. I have the hot spot maps for the chetek chain and potato and have been taking notes.

8 of us are going to Little Bay de Noc this year. We did hit the Walleye and Burbot big one year at Ziffle's Bay on Lake of the Woods, great fishing.

I work as a guide on leech right now and it's good fishing if you can manage to get around with all the slush. Plan on getting stuck if you go off a plowed road.
