After today out at fish trap derby i have changed my mind and now am interested in a flasher. i could not even buy a bite all day but the shanty next to me, the guy had a vex and he was killing the gills. he taught me how to read the screen and had some fun but when i got back to my shanty i still counldnt hook anything no matter which jig color, bait i used!! i dont have all that much money right now to spend on a flasher but any suggestions ?

save and get what u can efford. I will never fish blind again.
I have seen vexlars on clearance at the walmart in scerriville befor. I got mine there a few yrs ago. it was like 25% cheeper tha i have ever seen them. I heard u can get reconditioned fron vex when available. maybe ebay?

I know most use the Vex for Ice Fishing but I picked up a couple inexpensive graghs for the aluminum boats a couple years ago and have converted one to the ice shanty, works great and got about 100 bucks in it with the small tractor battery for power.

not from what i heard. nice size gill, but i left at 3 and the tourney didnt end til 4. i had child duty xuz the sitter had to leave

My buddy bought the one in the for sale forum yesterday!! He told me that all ice electronics are 25% off at Hammond Cabelas right now, though. After he picked up that flasher he went to Cabelas and bought a new camera! He went from having nothing to having everything!!

x2 on the Vexilar FL-18. Make sure what ever you wind up buying has the bottom lock or auto zoom for the lower 6' of the water column. Having that feature alone make buying a flasher worth while. If you were to go Vexilar the models that have the auto zoom/bottom lock are the Fl-18 FL-20 and the FL-22. The FL-22 is new on the market this year and is pricey abut I have heard threw the grape vine that there may be some "bugs" to work out. Personally I would go with the FL-18 with the 12° transducer, I just bought that model this year and can say nothing bad about it.

I know everyone uses flashers. But I have a lowrance lms 522 ice machine that I found in eBay. It has 4x zoom and GPS w/ lake map chip. Makes it great if you travel on the ice a lot.

I purchased a Marcum VX-1 Pro off of fleetfarm.com and had it shipped to my door for $279!! I believe now they are $299 but still I'd have to say the best bang for the buck when you don't have much money to play with..just my two cents.
