Port Colborne Report
« on: Jan 22, 2011, 04:43 PM »
Hi All,
Went out to Sugarloaf marina in Port Colborne today. 9 and a half inches of good thick ice in the spot that froze over last.

Was out with a buddy from 10:00 - 1:30 and caught around 25 perch. Most were 4-7 inches but managed a couple 9+ inchers. Literally dozens of perch under 4 inches in view at all times. A lot of biggers ones swam in but were very hesitant to bite.

Taking the perm shack out tomorrow to the same spot.

Are you walking out from the boat launch PoCo Loco?
Be safe out there, and set the iron.

Hey Stump Puller,
No, I usually park over by Marlon and walk down their dock ramp. I usually fish in the opening between the sugarloaf docks and the marlon docks, so it's a shorter walk from there.

A lot of guys walk out from the boat launch though. Today I went out down the boat launch because I dragged the perm hut out and the only way to get it on the ice was at the launch.

We had basically no luck today, 5 small perch caught between 4 guys in 3 hours. Fish were very scarce and even when they showed up they were not interested in biting.

Here are a few pictures of my new hut. Hoping to get a few good years out of it......

Thats a nice hut, now if you can just keep the idiot's from destroying it on ya it will serve you good for a few years. A body and I put one out from Sherkston Beach a few years back and it lasted a week before some jerk burned it down. Alot of work up in smoke. If I see you out in your hut some day I'll stop by and introduce myself.
Be safe out there, and set the iron.

Thanks PTTM,
I should be out there every Saturday and Sunday morning until March (except this Sunday, going to St Willy's).

I am actually planning a day with a bunch of people from work and all our kids on 02/19/11. Maybe you and your girls can make it then.

Talk to you soon.
