Saratoga Lake Ice Fishing
« on: Jan 03, 2011, 06:51 PM »
First season ice fishing, looking for some tips and pointers on how to get started.  Let me start by saying that my buddy and I have a shanty, auger, 13 tip-ups, scoops, extra flags all that stuff.  We have the proper clothing as well.
I guess my question is what else should we consider before getting heading out to the ice.  Our goal right now is get out on Saratoga Lake on 1.14.11.  We were just going to use shiners as bait.  We heard that fishing right out in front of Snake Hill was good, but where do we park?  Any kind of information or pointers you guys are willing to give would be appreciated.  Again, this is our first season, we just got all our gear and really want to get into this.

Thanks,
Joec1882

Welcome to "IceShanty" Joec1882!
There is parking for $7 per day at the South Shore Marina on the south end of the lake.  You also need to post more than five times on the web site to earn access to the "reports" section of the New York Forum.  There is an entire section there devoted to reports on conditions on Saratoga.
Good luck and stay on top.  :icefish:

Snkae Hill is quite a walk from the South Shore. However, I dont think there is a better option.

Fitch rd isnt a bad spot to park. But you need to get there early on the weekends
