Hey Panfish,

I too am waiting for Crane falls to ice up, but it's gonna take a week of frigid single digits temps or more if we stay just under freezing for our daytime high temps... Man I hope it happens this year, crappie, gills, perch, bass and trout. All in one nice little body of water!!!

I would like to give CJ a try through the ice.  I love fishing there in the spring.

Hey Basser,

You'll love crane falls res. they have a special bass restriction: you can't keep any bass under 20" !!!

I might just head down there this weekend if the wind isn't too bad and let you know.

I have been waiting for a report of ice in that area.  I love fishing CJ Strike, but have never been there in the winter.  I need to go this year.

I'll be anxious to here your report.  I am planning on Cascade for Saturday, but if your report is favorable, I could change my mind.
Keep your gun powder dry and your fishing hooks wet.

There is ice, it was wet and couldn't find the fish.  Still had a good time and met a nice guy.

hey Mh,

I wonder if in cove arm the fish move out for the winter for the deeper water of the river? What do you think?...

It could be, I mainly fished crane falls, chatted with a guy down there for a while, he had a camera and we viewed quite a bit of holes numerous parts of the lake and couldn't find anything, possibly in the shallow weeds is what I was thinking.

One of the "Ice Fishing Guide" shows I recorded said gills are sometimes a hot evening bite right at the weed line or just above the weeds....

I would've thought w/ the crappie, trout, perch, bass and gills you guys would've found something... :-\

Did either of you have a flasher?

Last year I bought a camera from cabela's and realized that I got a little ahead of myself. I need to find fish before I can look at them....

Good for you! What did you get?

I've had my marcum vx-1 for a couple of weeks now and man what a difference!!! When it comes, you'll have to hit crane falls again, if the ice holds....

that's what I got, seemed like a great deal for the price, multi-colar and bottom zoom for that low price.  It probably will freeze back up, the next couple weeks are going to be high 40's so it probably will thaw completly.  Cove arm the edges are allready open water, had to walk out the dock to get on the ice from there.

I really wanted to get down to crane falls, but the threat of rain ran me up to cascade wed. Kinda wished I'da toughed out...

I really like the vx-1 and the bottom zoom is great for old eyes like mine.

if I don't take my boat out I usually go there.  The crappie fishing is pretty decent for bank fishing there and there isn't usually too many people there.

I have actually caught more out in on the water there than from the bank, but I am taking about ice fishing it for crappie.
