pistol grip ice rod?
« on: Dec 27, 2010, 07:17 AM »
Does anyone make a pistol-grip ice rod anymore? I've got an old Zebco 4004, but my kids fight over it.

I agree. Help the kids make their own. I have done that with my kids and nephews and all them still have them and use them. You should hear the stories about the fun they had making them. Well worth the time and it makes a miserable cold winter day go so much better.

i had a wristsaver setup a couple years ago.. pretty cheap only like 30 bucks for the rod and reel. reel was decent. rod had a great feel but it ended up breaking on me.. dont know if it was my fault or if it was just cheap because i cant remember how it broke.  nowadays i have normal rod that i pistol grip when im jigging and in hindsight it works just as good as the wristsaver but has better action..

Success! Found the Daiwa Triforce "Shorty" - a 36 inch rod with a trigger grip, in medium and medium-light actions. Retails at around $20, and my local shop has ordered me several. I got to borrow one the other day on the ice, a good crappie jigging rod in ML, the medium would be great for bass, pike or 'eyes.
