Slough Bite Today 12/24 pics
« on: Dec 24, 2010, 02:55 PM »
Got out for several hours today, from 10 to 2 at Mormon Hill.  The bite was steady all the time and the fish were aggressive.  Ended up keeping 73 Gills and 4 Bass, that will keep me busy cleaning for awhile.  Merry Christmas to Everyone and may His Blessing's Follow You Always !!!

Is it a shorter walk at mormon hill than at the HQ? Also how do you get to the mormon hill parking area?

You can walk just as far as you do from HQ to some spots, and then there are weeds that are alot closer to shore.  There are folks fishing all over that area, not to hard to see where the bite is happening.

Hi Gang!
I thought there was a limit of 25 total possesion for the slew for gill.  I was wondering why you guys kill the bass for food.  I know from experience they don't taste that good.  I guess I'll never understand why so many guys need to over harvest and brag about it?

That is a great mess of fish, I too have heard a lot of this willow slough but have never fished it. I think it is only abouot 30 min from me. Is there a place where I can buy an out of state license around the slough? I am from the kankakee area originally from iowa and just have not found any productive waters around here. Really looking for gills and crappie but love to catch what ever bites. I usually fish alone and with 2 little ones and a wife who works retail it is hard to go very far so hopefully this is the spot. Again not trying to steal anyones hot spots but any info would be great. Merry christmas everyone.

How is the snow?  Thinking of making the run this am if no snow compared to the 8 inches here in Middle Illinois.

Still snowing now.  Since 2:00 pm yesterday I would guess we got another 4" of snow.  It was not bad yesterday because the snow path was packed down good, but with this additional snow it will be tough going.  I don't see the snow clearing off the lake and a winter kill sure seems to be coming at the slough. :(

Bait shop opens at 7, seven days a week. You can catch fish everywhere on this water. Right out in the middle, in reeds, next to bushes, in the trees, channels, in 2 fow, with any kind of bait. Good luck.

I am from Wheatfield and fished the slough in the 70's however, I don't think I ever caught any cats from there. I don't target them but do catch one occasionally when fishing for eyes.
