Ghost at the north side of the highway - some idiot cut out 10ft x 10ft sections of ice right infront of the dock. be bloody careful.
6-8" of bubbly ice in the area... not very safe quite yet.
there is a group that teaches cold water safety/diving or some such thing every year to the left going off the boat launch. Wonder if its the same group. they usually are pretty good about cordoning it off.
thanks for the update . it is appreciated

Just a thanks to those that report using this.

Let's all post if we get out this next week around the edmonton area.

Might save someone a trip, or a life as I think #1Fisherman stated.

Stuck at home with a sick wee one and unable to recce Gull Lake as I wanted to on open day.

Anyone that makes it out. A simple sound off on the ice conditions would be groovy!

Hey Guys
First I would like to thank all who participate on Ice Shanty. Now in my 4th season I would still be stumbling around without the advice from IS members.last season I was out with two members incredible trips(no fish)
Two new friends.
I have enjoyed the debates on catch or release and learned a lot about the different equipment.
I am looking forward to  getting up the central ab. And fishing with the crew up there.
Anyways Thanks....2015 will be a great season thanks to Ice Shanty.

Me and a buddy hit the usual pike spots in the Nanton area today. Beautiful weather and a few nice fish.
Quite a bit of floodwater out on the ice and around 8 inches of slush on the shore. Wear your waterproof boots if you head out!
Out on the lakes there was a good 7-10 inches in spots, but the water on top got bad towards the end of the day widening some pressure ridges and holes. I would not recommend driving and use caution if you decide to go out in the next while.

Anyone that has been out, ESP to a known spot this year.

What kind of "ice loss" have you seen this last week with the warm temps?

Interested to see if anyone takes note and what the "damage" to most waters ends up being.

Gull has about 8in of ice, ice was very poor big black patches of slush or it was so slick could hardly walk on it. it was a little scary but the fish were biting, wear rubber boots.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not liking Global warming at all!
I'll take these temps in the spring and fall thank you but not during Ice fishing.
Hell, if I'd jumped on all the dames I'm supposed to have jumped on, I'd have had no time to go fishing.

Between an inch and two inches of ice loss at Wabamum.  7-8" of clear black ice with anywhere from 3-6" of water on top.  Its a MESS out there.
