Leader holder
« on: Oct 31, 2010, 08:40 AM »

Decided to make my own...similar to the Lindy style

Transducer float with 1/2" dowel rod inserted with finising nails

Leader loop around nails, wrap leader around float, insert hook into float

Had everything around house so no cost...got enough to make a few more

Pool noodles also work great.

Cool. Ive been using pipe insulation. No nails just wrap over leader loop end and hook in foam. Still looking for a good way to carry them, using a big ziploc for now just toss in pail.

I use the Lindy Rigger x-treme for my various tip-up pre-set leaders. I made a clear plastic cover for it to cover the trebles. The center of it has a series of clear plastic cups screw together as a tube, keeps additional hooks, slitshot and whatever neatly.

I wrap my tip up leaders around a cork. A push pin holds the clip while the hook jams into the cork.

I always end up not having enough leaders and making them out on the ice with bare hands. This is a better idea...

Great idea on the leader holder! I'm way too lazy to make something up  ;D... I just use a Lindy Extreme Rigger. Mine have held up well ove the last 3 years in the salt, fresh and hard water.

Don't need to bring back an old pat put this is all I found. I have a Lindy Rigger Xtreme but I don't see how you secure the swivel when you are putting rigs on it? I am used to seeing the little notch where you hook the swivel onto.

Absolutely cool. I've been trying to figure out how to carry those pain-in-the-arse leaders kink free. Going to whip up a couple and see how they work. Thanks for posting this.

Ive used pool noodles and pipe insulation.  I just stick a toothpick into the foam, put my loop over it, wrap my leader around the foam, and stick the hook in.  quick, cheap, and easy.

I do almost the same thing for both hard & soft water, I use a piece of swim toy noodle.  It's round enough so you don't take a shape, and costs only a few bucks at Walmart.  I cut a slits in it around the width about 1/4 way thru, maybe ever 1/2" - 3/4", run the loop end into the slit and wrap around it until you come to the hook, then just push it into the foam.  The slit not only holds the loop, but keeps you on track as you wind the thing around it.

I know what I am doing tonight. Now I won't spend forever untangling a mess or throwing away leaders.  Thanks for posting
