I'm doing a small dock repair for an elderly lady and she offered me a trade for the dock repair. Her deceased husband had a 10" Eskimo auger and a trapper basket full of different brands of tip ups. I couldn't tell if its a cuda or a shark, but it looks pretty clean and looks like it was well taken care of. By the looks of it, its not too old.
I was a little nervous about it, but she said she would rather have someone who will use it and appreciate it. Any
feedback on Eskimo augers would be greatly appreciated.

I have an old one.. Got it used about 15 years ago.. It is a beast.. There has been times I wish I had it instead of my 6inch Jiffy...

You bet!! Been repairing and building engines (Used to race Yamaha bikes) as a sideline since the 70's. IMO, Eskimo is one of the most under-rated augers out there.
Their Viper engines are pretty much bullet proof, as were their older ones. (Pre-viper) I've owned a Stingray for 5 years, and love it! You can call them @ 1-800-345-6007...they are in Cumberland, Wisconsin.  They are division of Ardisam, Inc., which makes a lot of earth augers and equipment. Customer service is second to none. They've done right by me anytime I've ordered parts from them. If you give 'em a call, they should be able to tell you all you need to know about your auger.  Smiley

I got a better look at the auger yesterday. I couldn't find a model name on it, just the tag on top with the Ardisam #
and the serial number. It has the metal handles and it measured ten inches across the bit. Except for a few small scratches, it looks brand new.  Grin I don't care if I have to work around the clock to get her dock fixed, that bad boy is coming home this weekend.

Hey Mealworm, hows it going ? I've been running Opti 2 oil mix in my Jiffy legend. I wonder if I can run it in the
Eskimo ? I really liked the difference it made with the jiffy.

Yowza!!! Tony, I do believe that is an early Shark model!!! It does pre-date the Piranha & 'Cuda. It does have the Tecumseh TC 300 3 HP engine per the serial # you gave me...as for the blades, I'm not really sure..they did later drop the serrated flighting and go with the self-centering Quantum. I'd give them a call @ the number I provided and see what they say...the shaft size is still the same, and you should be able to get blades for it from Ardisam. Let 'er rip!!!! Anywho, you've got a workhorse there! Let 'er rip! BRRRRZZZZZZ!  Grin

Now the I belong to the fraternal brotherhood of Eskimo Owners, I will do my best to restore this auger to original condition and enjoy myself thoroughly while I do it. Grin I want to thank everyone who responded to the post with the information on this auger. I really appreciate the help. I've wanted to find an older Eskimo auger ever since I tried one many moons ago. No more imported chinese crap for this kid !  AMERICAN MADE AND AMERICAN OWNED !! Grin YEHAAA, THE ICE IS GONNA FLY NOW !!  Ice Fishing

P.S. The lady that I traded the dock repair for it called me last night. She found the wall hanger bracket and the manual for it too ! Thumbs up

I own a 1977 Eskimo 3hp Tec w/ 8" blade. Dependable old school! Yours has gutta be a Shark (pic of shark on top of auger blade) Lot newer than mine, you will come to count on it ,I`m sure. My bud brought a newer auger out to a derby last year and my auger outdrilled it and started way easier. Old School still Rulz!
