If you see one, run away as fast as you can.  You will know if you see one.

 Ophidia niphophilia

The Snow Snake is an unusual Awakened snake that has pure white fur all along its back, with non-reflecting scales on its belly. It has ruby-red eyes and a small mouth that sports poisonous fangs. It reaches up to 2.5 meters in length.

Snow Snakes feed on small mammals and reptiles, being active throughout the year. This makes it particularly adept at hunting hibernating mammals. During the summer months is when the snow snake becomes torpid and hibernates until winter. They are immune to the effects of cold, but vulnerable to fire. Snow snakes are venomous and can be dangerous to travelers over snowy areas.

The Snow Snake is found throughout the colder northern regions of North America. Most recently the Snow Snake has been spotted during the months of December through February. The most predominate area for Snow Snakes in the last several is the Mountains of Southwest Virginia. Scientific information has proven that the snakes have chosen this area due to the vast amount of small game that hibernates there during the winter. The most recent Snow Snake sighting was December 29th 2007 in a part of Dickenson County known as Ramsey Ridge

You neglected to add that the range of the snow snake is being reduced by global climate change.

An old Irishman told me that Dr.Magillacuties will repell them. But to be safe on the ice, indulge in the Dr., chase with a fermented beverage and create a yellow circle around you. Seems they won't cross yellow snow!  :woot:

those 2 i saw the other day are the only ones Ive seen in a few years  i was surprised to see them with the lack of snow this year  and the heave snow the past 2 years help to keep them hid  if you ever see a lot of those black snow flees on the snow pay special attention that area and you might get to see the snake trying to eat them  he would be in his white camo color so watch for snow moving like a snake and for god sake dont step on it
in god we trust
