Big Sandy Pond Pike?
« on: Feb 18, 2010, 09:30 AM »
What's the biggest Pike you've taken off the Pond?
Reason I'm asking, I've now caught 2 perch fat 11+" with torn up dorsals and sides, looks like they got hit by a boat prop, fairly recent injuries. Just wondering what tried to eat em.  Figure it had to be an awful big Pike to munch on a Perch that big.  Both came off the Elms not in Renshaw, I know there's seems to be a lot more pike this yr, I'm not that big into them, but I try once in a while.  Just figure anything big enough to think an 11" perch is a meal (besides me  ;) ) Could be a heck of alot of fun.

i have fished the pond for over 35 years. i have got them as big as 40". alot of the pike run from 22" to 30". there are bigger ones there though. a 30" pike will eat an 11" perch for sure. they are a brutal fish. very aggresive at times.

Dam a 32 inch pike that came in at 10lbs. That had to be fat as hell

It was a little hefty but nothing crazy.

And I'd agree with green69 on the average

northern pike can eat a fish 2/3rds of it own wieght...
If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in northern New York
