An Ice Fisherman died in UP State NY Monday. He was fishing alone. He tried to get onto the bay by walking on ice in between dock bubblers. He broke through and drowned.
He was an experienced man.
He was a Family man.

Be safe

Thanks Hoosier, I thought all these guys were getting tired of my safety posts. These videos done by a doctor are very important for all of us to watch. I believe in being prepared (an old boy scout law.)  It may save our life and life of others. Since you are now a mod maybe this topic can be locked. We have a lot of newbys comin to enjoy our sport.
...............PLEASE FELLOW SHANTY MEMBERS ALL OF US SHOULD SEE THESE VIDEOS................ ...................... .......
THANKS................ ............. The Gaddabout............. ...............

Amen.  Watching these videos is very sobering, makes you think of all the people you would hurt if you weren't prepared.

thing that made me wanna put this up is a place I was fishin yesterday ice was only 1 1/2 in places a guy comes out try to tell him to be carefull and he was totally oblivious about the warning,he aint skeered of 1 1/2 cause he is only 145,,After ellin me and derslayer about how he had been dumping buckets of water on paths he had shovel snow off of,according to him it was completly safe,,asked him well what about the 1 1/2 to 2 inchs on either side of his paths and he was addamint about it was all good.I had a 12ft 2x4 i had laid out in moring becouse it was seepin and gettin real bad day before,,end of that board went thru on way off.Hate to say it but might just be readin about that guy in paper if he gets on it today...
